Sara Jones is a good friend and great person. She’s also a Master of the English language which I think is pretty righteous.

Sara keeps a weblog called Porcelain Manifesta. Also, if you’r big into small town weddings, she created a super good blog for that too. Pretty much if you need a tutor, a good laugh, or someone to plan something for you, she’s the one to do it.

Lastly, I feel it would be rude of me not to mention that her dad’s real name is Mike Jones

Bob is a great man, and not hard to find. He hangs out in the alley behind Fairfax Blvd picking at his guitar and chatting with different merchants as they come and go.

BJ The Chicago Kid is an up and coming singer. You can hear his raw uncut talent at www.ListenToBJ.com

Sergio is the man in charge of making all the food at a small pizza place in my neighborhood called La Paisano. He’s been making pizzas there for 35 years and there hasn’t been a day since I’ve lived in the neighborhood that I haven’t seen him working. Walking into La Paisano you feel like you’ve just stepped out of a time machine, there’s an old pinball machine, a pacman arcade, old Coca Cola refridgerators, a couple eight tracks and a wall scattered with old photos of celebrities signed to Sergio.

Drop in to La Paisano on Beverly sometime and say hello to a good man.

Another week, another traumatic first memory.

Aisea Taimani is a super talented musician and one of the most loving people I know. If you live in Santa Monica or anywhere close, you should visit Risen to listen to his music.

Aside from the old gospel churches I went to as a child, most churches I visit these days have corny music that seems to be trying too hard to be cool. Aisea leads worship in a much different way, revealing truths in songs from artists that most churches would condemn, all the while making it almost impossible not to move your feet.

You can find some of Aisea’s original music at his myspace page here. He’s in the process of mastering his full album and it should be available soon.

Hillary Rust is one of my greatest friends and the inspiration behind this site. Years ago He told me the first thing he could ever remember, and ever since I’ve been intrigued by the thought of first memories.

Hillary is a super talented writer, and a mystery of a human being. You can find some of his unique streams of words and thoughts at Ou Est… Je Suis…
. The Ou Est… Je Suis… book with entries and photographs is out there somewhere but I can’t find it right now for whatever reason, I’ll update this text when he links me…until then, this is Hillary Rust’s first memory.

If you’re wondering who did the painting he’s standing in front of, that would be Matt Dobson’s work. Check his stuff out here

UPDATE: here’s the link to the Ou Est…Je Suis… book

The Archbishop Don “Magic” Juan needs little introduction, he’s a world famous pimp and a close friend and spiritual advisor to rap stars like Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Lil John, and Nelly to name a few.

His name and appearance has been used everywhere from television shows, movies, and music videos. In fact it was sort of random, the other night I was watching “Midnight Cowboy,” and Jon Voight’s character “Joe” makes reference to “The Archbishop.” This further proved to me the long standing history of “Magic” Juan’s status.

Visit http://www.thebishop.us/ for more information and to pick up some of the Bishop’s clothing.

David Kramer is co-owner of Family bookstore and Hope Gallery in Los Angeles Ca.  Although Family has the best selection of some of my favorite authors, David has created a place that is so much more than a bookstore.

Upon arrival at Family your eyes are greeted with incredible design & artwork, your ears with great music, and your hands with the opportunity to pick up any piece of merchandise with confidence that it will be enjoyable.

David Kramer is excitingly pushing the limits of art and literature in the Los Angeles area. This is his first memory.
